Box Tops For Education: Once again, we would like to thank everyone for collecting the box tops and sending them to school. This past week we received a check in the amount of $322.50. Cathy Piotrowski (thank you) sends these in a couple times a year, so please continue to save them.

Congratulations: Anna Gable, a 2007 Graduate of St. Gabriel School, was chosen to compete in Still Water, OK, this summer. She will be representing the Richfield Rebels 4-H of Washington County. She took home two Blue Ribbons and a White Ribbon at the State level in Madison. She was judged on her knowledge of the Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program or known as WHEP. Anna was chosen along with three other high school students. We wish her luck!

Also Congratulations: Rachel Scaduto (5th Grade), Cade Beedie (6th Grade) and Lindsey Casper (7th Grade) received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award this year! These students showed exceptional fitness in the areas of flexibility, strength, speed and endurance. Great job!!

"A Grand Denim and Diamond Affair" Auction Meeting: Our wrap up meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Council Room at Church. Everyone is welcome to attend. We are still in need of volunteers to head up the Marketplace Extravaganza and the Chicago bus trip. Volunteering for these events contributes to your required SRO hours. Both events contribute several thousand dollars to the auction.

If you would like to find out more about the auction, please be sure to attend. The more the merrier! Contact Karen Berghammer with any questions at 262-305-7320. Hope to see you there.

Hartford Hoops Camp: A flyer is included with information on the Hartford Hoops Camp. If you need another flyer, please stop in the School Office of contact Ben Hoffmann at Hartford High School, 805 Cedar Street, Hartford, WI 53027.

Volunteer Appreciation Night: Are you one of the many wonderful volunteers who have helped St. Gabriel School in any way? If so, please join us on Tuesday, May 20 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at St. Gabriel Church. A light dinner will be served. This event is for the adults.

Spring Book Fair: Our last Book Fair was a success! Thanks to all for your support. The Library now has $620 worth of new A.R. books on the shelves and an additional $970.39 to use in the Scholastic instructional resource catalog. Every purchase truly does make a difference and directly benefits St. Gabriel students.

Richfield Summer School Program: The Richfield School District is offering a summer school program. If you are interested to see what they offer, brochures are outside the School Office.

Scrap Booking Night: Ladies, need a night away from the family? Come and enjoy us for scrapping and fun on Friday, May 31 from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. in the school gym. The cost is $5 per person, which includes the use of scrapping tools. Please contact Cathy Piotrowski at 628-7931 if you would like to join us. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to underwriting the 2009 St. Gabriel Dinner Auction.

From The Principal's Office:

Dear Parents:

Last week you received a lengthy Gazette. We hope that questions about SRO's, dress policy and next year's calendar were clarified. The SRO hours begin on
May 1 and we know that there are several activities coming up so you can begin logging your hours.

We had a School Committee meeting last night and one discussion item was a goal of updating our website on a timely basis and making sure that you have access to committee minutes. In the future, we plan on posting school closings, volunteer opportunities and voting capabilities on our website. Speaking of voting opportunities, please go to our website and vote for School Committee members. We are anxious to have all our families get in the habit of accessing our website (www.sgabriel.org) You can get started by voting this week!

We have had so many people give their time and talent to our school. The teachers and staff would like to request your presence at an Open House Volunteer Appreciation get-together. It will be from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at St. Gabriel Church on Tuesday, May 20. A light dinner will be served. We are hoping for a big turn out.

The School Committee spent several hours reviewing and updating our Student/Parent Handbook. It is almost ready for publication. We are very grateful for the time and effort spent on what can be a tedious task.

Finally, congratulations to Fr. Chuck on the 25 years of being a priest. The celebration begins after the 4:30 p.m. Mass on May 17. We hope to see you there. Please RSVP to Judy Berrres (628-2685) by Friday, May 9.
